We all need a Will, but are tempted to put it off as a chore we don’t want to face. Reasons for not making a will include thinking that we have nothing to leave, that our circumstances are too complicated to sort out or that we simply don’t want to address the issue.
Very often, people leave making a Will until it’s too late, and we have to try and pick up the pieces for the family. This always causes the probate costs to rise substantially.
The consequences of not making a will include: -
- Your estate will not pass to who you intend because of the Intestacy Rules
- You will have lost the chance to plan for Inheritance Tax and care fees (at worst this could wipe out your estate)
- No one has been given the authority to deal with your estate
- Your children may not be protected, potentially inheriting too young, losing entitlement to any State Benefits they may receive.
Your Will is the most important document you will ever sign. Making a Will is not a question of whether you can afford to but whether you can afford not to. Review your Will every 5 years or so to make sure it still applies to your circumstances. If in doubt, please contact us to check.
The costs of making a Will vary depending upon its complexity. However, prices are fixed and you will be advised at the outset. There are also a number of Charitable Will Schemes and we will give you a fixed price for peace of mind.
