hlw Keeble Hawson is marking success across 17 practice areas in the newly released Legal 500 rankings - with 19 lawyers recommended across both commercial and private client practice areas.

The corporate and commercial team, headed by Roger Dyson, is recommended for its expertise in both South Yorkshire and Leeds. Singled out for individual praise is partner Nick Goulding, who offers ‘practical guidance and infectious enthusiasm’. Clients include Pressure Technologies and the Harworth Group who hlw Keeble Hawson has represented in its recent £6.95m acquisition of an industrial estate next to Rolls-Royce’s worldwide headquarters in Derby.

One of Yorkshire’s largest law firms with offices in Sheffield, Leeds and Doncaster, hlw Keeble Hawson is once again ranked among the best for employment law in South Yorkshire. The team, led by Barry Warne, specialises in dismissals and disciplinary matters in the manufacturing and engineering sectors.

Led by partner and founder Ron Whitlam, the firm’s commercial litigation team is noted for its strong base of local engineering and manufacturing clients and includes Doncaster-based partner Sarah Burton, who is ‘very proactive, knowledgeable and hardworking’.

Identified as being ‘particularly known in Sheffield for its contentious expertise’, is the firm’s insolvency team. Key members singled out in the Leeds office include associate Jo Smith and partner Natalie Nattress, who handles large scale investigations in bankruptcy and liquidation estates.

Led by partner Giles Searby and acting for clients including Chesterfield FC and Doncaster Knights RUFC, the firm retains its sports law ranking along with its ranking for debt recovery in Leeds where the team is led by partner Rachel Crookes and clients include Menzies Distribution and Federation of Master Builders.

Legal 500 also recommends hlw Keeble Hawson for its private client practice areas, including family law, which is headed by the ‘extremely bright and resourceful’ Vanessa Fox, and personal injury, which is led by the ‘pragmatic, measured lawyer’ David Jones, who works alongside Mark Hollinghurst, head of the brain injury team.

Clinical negligence, headed by Janet Baker, is also mentioned, along with personal tax trusts and probate, led by George Connell, which is merited for its solid reputation in planning advice, estate administration and Court of Protection work.

hlw Keeble Hawson managing partner, Paul Trudgill, said: “Being ranked extensively in the Legal 500 is something we are justifiably proud of. It clearly demonstrates the breadth and depth of our expertise across commercial and private practice areas and highlights the strengths and specialisms of so many of our key individuals.”
