Pre-Pack Deal Saves UK’s Oldest Independent Specialist Outdoor Retailer

Administrators from The P&A Partnership have sold W Yeomans (Chesterfield) Ltd, the UK's largest independent outdoor clothing and equipment retailer, in a pre-pack deal.

Gareth Rusling and Chris White were appointed joint administrators of the specialist retail chain on May 16 and sold the business immediately on appointment. The P&A Partnership is a leading specialist business turnaround and insolvency firm with offices across the UK and in London.

Commenting on the sale Chris White said: “In these challenging times for the retail sector we are pleased to have been able to save such an established brand and to safeguard jobs.”

Yeomans was founded in 1904 when Walter Yeomans opened a shop in Chesterfield. Specialising in camping equipment and outdoor clothing, the company has high street shops, outdoor stores in garden centres and outlet shops in England, Scotland and Wales.

The P&A Partnership were advised on the deal by law firm hlw Keeble Hawson - one of Yorkshire’s biggest practices with offices in Leeds, Sheffield and Doncaster.

It’s gratifying that such a long-established, well-known business can continue to play its part on the nation’s high streets.”
