Solicitors at hlw Keeble Hawson’s private client division in Sheffield are marking a milestone after donating 500 hours of specialist pro bono support to three local charities over the past 12 months.

Private Client Teamhlw Keeble Hawson is one of the region’s largest law firms, with two offices in Sheffield and additional bases in Leeds and Doncaster. The impressive total has been achieved by employees based in St James’ Row, Sheffield.

In the last year partner Michele Todd and associate Alex Guy - who have both lost close family members to cancer - have each given more than 150 hours of their expertise to help cancer patients.

Michele serves as a legal trustee for Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity, and Alex devotes half a day each week to provide a free legal surgery for users of the Weston Park Cancer Information and Support Centre.

George Connell, who heads the wills, trust and probate team, is also instrumental in spearheading the charity drive. He has recently clocked up 30 consecutive years as the law clerk of Sheffield Town Trust, a historic charity which grants around £400,000 annually to groups and organisations across the city. George and his team spend at least 200 hours a year assisting the charity.

Said Michele: “As a practice, hlw Keeble Hawson is extremely committed to the wide-ranging backing we provide to local charities. Putting something back into our local communities is a deep rooted part of our ethos and our team is proud to help make a difference.”
