Are you merging with another charity and looking to reduce costs?

With mergers in the charity sector becoming more commonplace, the need for charities to take advice on the implications for employees and other issues that can arise pre and post-merger is growing.

If you plan to merge with another charity we can advise you on how to inform and consult with your employees about the merger so that you can satisfy your legal obligations under TUPE (Transfer of Undertakings [Protection of Employment] Regulations 2006). We can also help you manage any restructure or redundancy situation that may arise out of your merger.

The potential cost of mishandling the employment law aspects of a merger, redundancy or restructure cannot be underestimated, particularly where your employees have the support of trade unions and other representative bodies. Awards for failure to consult alone can be three months’ pay per employee.
