Yorkshire law firm Keeble Hawson LLP are hosting a free seminar designed to address some of the issues affecting charities, voluntary groups and not for profit organisations in a recession.

The seminar, that the firm hope will develop into a useful and proactive forum with a follow up event planned for next year, will provide a focus for discussion and updates on the issues most affecting organisations in this sector. Guest speakers from the fields of charity work and politics will be a key part of the event.

Rosemary Downs, Head of the Corporate and Business Services at Keeble Hawson LLP commented:

"No one is immune from the effects of a recession - not even the charities and organisations that many people support and help to fund across the region, on a regular basis."

"This Seminar and inaugural Forum will address some of the issues and questions that many charities, voluntary groups and not for profit organisations may have to face in the coming months - perhaps years."

"A pro-active approach to any challenging situation whether it involves employment, property, funding, strategy or other issues can only help. This is a real opportunity for people who are part of the charities and voluntary sector to meet, hear the latest advice, inspiring stories and put questions to a panel of experts."

Guest speakers will be:

Helena Muller: Founder and Chief Executive of award winning charity The Lost Chord. Helena will be talking about the work, experiences and effectiveness of the charity since it was founded in 1999 - as well as funding, resources and local support.

John Austin: Brooks: John leads the business Development Team at the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF). John will look at challenges facing the sector and how CAF help to overcome them, as well as gift aid and managing money/donations.

Rosemary Downs: Rosemary will be focusing on some topical legal points, of relevance to charities and the not for profit sector.

The ‘Charity begins at Home – but is your house in order?’ seminar will take place on Thursday 4th November from 4pm to 6.30pm at The Point, South Parade, Doncaster, DN1 2DR.
